New tools and challenges posed by the digital reality in the workplace compel us to act nowđ. Instead of seeing it as a threat, we can transform the current context into an opportunity that empowers us and our organizationsđȘ.
đ€ Is it true that current skills wonât be useful in the future? No, not exactly. However, it will be necessary to focus on enhancing the skills we already have and developing a mindset of continuous learningđ§©. This is where reskilling comes into play. In our Eidos philosophy, itâs more than just an update of skills; itâs a process of personal and professional transformation that prepares us to seize opportunities and empower ourselves and the environments we integrate.
Positive impact on organizations đ
Investing in the continuous training of individuals has become a "must" on the organizational map. McKinseyâs article "The economic case for reskilling in the UK" highlights that in the UK, around 75% of reskilling cases make "economic sense for employers." This can be represented by upskilling them in their current roles or providing tools to change rolesâretraining. In both cases, a net benefit was proven for businesses, including large companies (over 43% of the total) and SMEs (about 30%)đŒ.
The digital gap â đ»
We must acknowledge that not everyone starts from the same baseline when it comes to enhancing their skills. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), around 18% of young people in vulnerable socio-economic situations do not have internet access at home or in their educational environment, and 24% donât have access to a computer in any setting. Now imagine the difference compared to someone whoâs already paying monthly subscriptions for GPT, Grok, and Leonardo to boost their daily tasks.
What can we do? đ
đ§âđ» Promote continuous learning and boost our human and digital capabilities.
đ Donât just focus on ourselvesâletâs promote these initiatives within our organizations. Those who do so, both organizations and individuals, will have the advantage.
đ« Show empathy: by complementing these programs with a social perspective, weâll achieve sustainable impact, reaching the largest number of people.
đĄ Organizations that lead this change will have the advantage in the future. By helping more people acquire the necessary skills, weâll not only benefit companies but also states and society as a whole.
đ
At #EidosGlobal, we consider reskilling a key factor in our vision of humanity growing in harmony with the Earth.
In 2020, we launched Reskilling Latam, in collaboration with Microsoft, impacting more than three million people across the continent.
We also focus on the over-50 population, with the implementation of SilverTech, alongside Diagonal AsociaciĂłn Civil and Accenture.
We invite you to reflect with us đ€
What reskilling initiatives is your organization implementing? Can you complement them with social impact strategies?
How can you ensure these initiatives reach the most vulnerable populations? Share your vision with us, and letâs create together a bigger impact in our society! đ„
